The Crit #17: Clement Weather

Happy Lunar New Year! The Crit is back for 2022 – and the Year of the Tiger – with an unusually full first month of design news. Of course, your co-hosts (or should we say crow-hosts) treat it all to their traditional analysis and debate.

In episode #17, they scrutinise the unstoppable rise of NFTs, their questionable artistic credentials and real-world ramifications; puzzle over the calendar chaos wrought by covid as Salone del Mobile reschedules; get caught up in the craze for Wordle (now owned by The New York Times – ed.); marvel over how gene editing technology helped the world's first pig-to-human heart transplant; and recoil in horror from brands pasting their logos over both natural and human-made wonders of the world.

There’s also excitement over the roll out of Framework, a new modular laptop designed for home repairs; the humble dustpan and brush gets a makeover from Studio Irvine for Muji; and young designer Mac Collins continues his unstoppable rise with a brand new prize.
